The Victors!

Ohio Star Ball champions!

Hello team!

I hope you’re returning from your summer adventures refreshed and ready for new year full of dancing, fun and wacky shenanigans with your dance family! I’m so excited for all the opportunities coming up for the team in the next few months. Even though classes don’t start until next week, we have lots of events coming up in the next seven days – read the whole post to find out more…

DTS Day: On Thursday (starting at 5 pm), we’re doing our annual DTS day where we show some love to our studio and spruce it up ready for the new school year by re-taping the floors and giving it a fresh coat of paint! The more people that show up the more quickly we’ll get done, so please make an effort to give a couple of hours of your time to thank the Crabtrees for generously allowing us to use the space year-round.

Recruitment: Our first flyering events are coming up this Friday and Sunday, so put on your ballroom gear and come and help recruit this year’s newcomer class! Recruiting new members is a team-wide effort and is vital for the team’s future stability, and our greatest asset is our wonderful current team members who welcome newbies and convey their infectious enthusiasm for dance! Look at the schedule below for flyering events this week and keep an eye out on the team Facebook group for more information about recruitment.

Dancing in the Streets: A free event which includes intro lessons for many different dance styles plus lots of live music for dancing! Club will be teaching a beginner cha cha lesson 4-4.30 pm which is a perfect opportunity to meet new people and introduce them to dancing. Wear your ballroom gear and bring a friend! More info including the schedule can be found here.

Team closet: Please return any items borrowed from the team closet or from upper-level team members before the start of the semester so they are available for other people to use! If you’ve grown attached to an item from the team closet and don’t want to give it back, many items are available for purchase – contact me (Lizzie) for more info.

Looking further ahead…

Tryouts are coming up on September 15th, so save the date, find a partner and start practicing! Stay tuned for more information and sign-up next week. Reminder that you must settle any debts you owe to the team from last semester in order to try out: check your inbox for emails from Clara/me to find out if you owe any money.

Competitions for this semester and many other useful dates can be found in the calendar on the website.
