It was great to see everyone at lesson today, where we practiced and added on to the Viennese Waltz, International Rumba, and Jive. This week we\u2019ll continue to Meet the Teams with the C team (see the bottom of this post):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Themed Sports Coliseum<\/strong> &#8211; We have moved to the<a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/FaLBGgUrJRfGqatC7\"> Sports Coliseum<\/a> for practices. Practice will be held 9-11pm Monday through Thursday. The theme for Wednesday Sports Coliseum this week is HALLOWEEN COSTUMES!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hallowe&#8217;en Party <\/strong>&#8211; We will be hosting a Hallowe&#8217;en party on <strong>Nov. 1<\/strong>, starting at 9:30pm. More details to follow, in a party email from Taryn<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>MichComp Committee<\/strong> &#8211; We will be having our first MichComp Committee meeting on November 2nd at noon in Mason Hall Rm 1339, to begin organizing our home competition, which we\u2019ll hold next semester. You should totally help. Sign up for the interest list<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSc7jfO2bxVlCBsBs_3jab1AXWaYlK3SAx4OHzFlszvvN8aSJg\/viewform?usp=header\"> here<\/a>, it\u2019s no commitment but you will be in the loop.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ballroom Buddies <\/strong>&#8211; If you are nervous about coming up to approved teachers or upper-level team members at practice, worry not! You can<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdvktlRrlvoiRfkNaIBG-vGUvnpOJJN2hYFaQiz2iz8lGQUJA\/viewform?usp=header\"> sign up<\/a> for ballroom buddies so you always have a go-to person to reach out to with questions, comments, or concerns. Your buddies can give you advice and help with anything from A to Z. This is particularly useful when it comes to practicing and comp prep. Fill out the form by midnight tomorrow (Monday 10\/27)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SAPAC Training<\/strong> &#8211; Because ballroom is a contact sport, we have mandatory SAPAC training that must be completed each year. This year,<strong> SAPAC will be held on November 12th, 6:30-8:00pm in Mason Hall<\/strong>. Please please PLEASE put this on your calendar now and make it happen! Scheduling makeup SAPAC is not fun and you will not enjoy it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Competitions<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>OSB Interest Form<\/strong>&#8211; Please fill out<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/UfEkrkjXEAcMu8zv7\"> this form<\/a> to indicate your interest in attending the Ohio Star Ball this November.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Registration information for the Ohio Star Ball and Purdue are both out! Zeynep is a Chemical Engineering PhD student, and this is her 5th semester on the team. Her favorite dance is also the Jive! Her favorite dance is the Samba. Her fun fact is that she learned the difference between Michigan and Michigan State at the ripe age of 13. Sarah is a grad student studying Global Health Epidemiology, and this is her 3rd semester on the team. Her favorite dance is also the Samba, and she traveled to five countries this summer!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Liam and Taryn<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.michiganballroomteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-5-600x800.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6148\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.michiganballroomteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-5-600x800.png 600w, https:\/\/www.michiganballroomteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-5-300x400.png 300w, https:\/\/www.michiganballroomteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-5.png 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Liam is a sophomore majoring in Biology (pre-med), and this is his 3rd semester on the team. His favorite dance is the Viennese Waltz. Fun fact: He once owned 30 different suits and would wear a different one for the last 30 days of middle school in what he called a suit marathon. Taryn is a sophomore majoring in Communications and Media with a minor in Dutch, and this is her 3rd semester on the team. Her favorite dance is also the Viennese Waltz! Fun fact: she has sewn an entire 1860s dress and petticoat (and she got to use an industrial sewing machine :))<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jeffrey and Alejandra<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.michiganballroomteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-4-600x800.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6147\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.michiganballroomteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-4-600x800.png 600w, https:\/\/www.michiganballroomteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-4-300x400.png 300w, https:\/\/www.michiganballroomteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-4.png 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Jeffrey is a senior majoring in Computer Science, and this is his 1st semester on the team. Alejandra is a freshman studying Cogsci, and this is also her 1st semester on the team. Their favorite dance is the rumbaaaa! Fun fact: Alejandra has an addiction to limes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Qingyue and Avy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.michiganballroomteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-3-600x800.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6145\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.michiganballroomteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-3-600x800.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/www.michiganballroomteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-3-300x400.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.michiganballroomteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-3.jpeg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Qingyue is a grad student studying CSE, and this is his 3rd semester on the team. His favorite dance is anything Latin. His fun fact is that he\u2019s super excited for Halloween. Avy is a sophomore majoring in Economics and Business. This is her 3rd semester on the team. Her favorite dance is the Samba. His favorite dance is Quickstep. His fun fact is that he\u2019s pictured in a medical textbook. Carmen is a junior majoring in Political Science, and this is her 5th semester on the team. Her favorite dance is the Foxtrot.
