Hello to the official Michigan Ballroom Dance Team for Fall 2016!!
Our roster for the semester is now complete and I want to extend the warmest of welcomes to the newest members of the UMBDT :) I am so excited that you are all joining our community and hope everyone had a fantastic Girls and Guys Night experience, whether it was your first or one of many. I know I thoroughly enjoyed the guys’ serenade, dancing with my fellow ladies, getting to know you all better, and celebrating the start of what is shaping up to be a great semester together.
Your Exec Board: Hopefully after our kickoff event you have a better understanding of what our team is all about and know some of our leaders you can go to with questions. But our board wanted to give you some inside scoop about ourselves and how to succeed in this crazy ballroom world, so for your entertainment, please check out this video featuring our 2016-2017 Executive Board created by our AMAZING tech chair, Miss Lizzy Xiong!
Ballroom Buddies: We are creating a ballroom buddies program for this semester! The way this program works, is if you are a new member of our team, you can sign up to be paired with a returning team member that has volunteered to help you feel welcome and answer any questions you might have. To be clear, your buddy is not responsible for teaching you dance moves or meeting with you all day every day (unless they want to), but rather serves as a point person so that you can have a familiar face on the team and get to know someone that knows how things run around here.

Newcomer Info Session: Newcomers, this one’s for you! DTS is short for Dance Theatre Studio, the practice space that our team uses Monday through Thursday nights every week. You can use this studio and those times to practice with your partner or on your own, however there are some key expectations that come with using this space. Our Practice Coordinator, Anna Haynes is hosting a mandatory info session for all new members at the studio this Wednesday. The Facebook event is here, please come and learn how to use the space, as well as get some inside information for comps and other important team info.

10-11:30pm: Mandatory Newcomer Info Session at DTS – if you are unable to make it, please email ballroom-exec@umich.edu and we will send you the info for the makeup session.
