10/23/16 Week at a Glance

The Team. The Team. The Team.

Yo fam,

Great job to everyone that competed at Purdue this weekend! I am so proud of you all and had such a blast competing alongside you all, cheering everyone on, and getting to know some of you better (looking at you, car friends, thanks for the jam sessions to stay awake driving!) Speaking of which, hope you all made it back safely and were able to take some time today to rest and recover before a new week begins. Here’s what is going on this week in the wonderful world of the UMBDT:

MANDATORY SAPAC Workshop: We will be having a mandatory SAPAC workshop for all members of our team this Thursday, 9-11pm in the CCRB Mirror Room in place of Newcomer lesson. The purpose of the workshop is to create space to educate on sexual assault prevention and how to effectively intercede as a bystander, and the workshop has been personalized to be especially relevant to our team. Creating a positive team environment where everyone feels included, valued and respected is a team wide effort, so please do your best to make it.

If you have an extenuating circumstance that for some reason is preventing you from attending, please email me at hirtlind@umich.edu with your reason. There will be a makeup session for those unable to attend, the evening of November 7th that will be required for those who miss the first date. C team – please plan on attending on the 7th!

Wisconsin Competition Info: The Badger Ballroom team is hosting their annual competition in 2 weeks on Nov 5th! If you’re interested in attending a competition before OSB, this is your only chance. If you’re interested in attending, please do the following no later than this Friday, 10/28:

1. Fill out Rooms and Rides

2. Register on O2CM ($45)

The competition is in Madison Wisconsin which is about a 6 hour drive. Because of the distance, some people elect to stay Saturday night there as well and drive back Sunday morning. If you have any questions, please contact the away competition chair Amos (amoscao@umich.edu).

Partner Searches: We will be hosting the first of a couple of guided partner searches starting this Wednesday! If you are still trying to find a partner to commit to dancing with either for OSB or in general, take advantage of this opportunity to try dancing with other available members. You can also post your info on this spreadsheet to show other members you are looking. Remember, you need to be in a committed partnership in order to progress on the team, so the sooner you can find someone to be partners with, the better!

Halloween Festivities: Party all weekend long with the UMBDT!! Come to our team exclusive party on Saturday, dressed in your best costume and ready to have a spooktacular good time :D Check out the Facebook event here for details. Then on Sunday evening, class it up and enjoy the Ballroom Club party featuring a live jazz band, a costume contest, fantastic fun dances and more! Facebook event here.

Best of luck with your fresh start to the week! Start brainstorming for costume ideas if you haven’t already, and beat the mad rush to Ragstock.
