Team members at last year’s Arnold competition – sign up ends on Wednesday so don’t miss out!
Hi team,
Hope you all had a relaxing weekend! Here’s the announcements for this week:
- Last chance to sign up for Arnold! Don’t miss out on the biggest and most exciting competition of the semester, check your inbox for Fabi’s email with all the details and links to sign up. Remember that only one person in a partnership needs to fill out registration, but both people must fill out rooms and rides or we won’t provide you with transportation to the comp :)
We traditionally refuel after a long day of dancing at Arnold with a huge team pasta dinner! PC Lizzy Xiong
- Partner search: Still looking for a partner for Arnold? We’ve got you covered! We’ll be holding a guided partner search at the end of Tuesday’s newcomer lesson. If you’re searching for a partner for Arnold, you can also post your info in the team Facebook group and/or on this spreadsheet to let other team members know you’re looking. Please note that entering your details on the spreadsheet doesn’t mean we will find you a partner, it’s your responsibility to use the sheet to contact potential partners 🙂
- Apparel! Rep the MBDT! Team apparel is now available to order on our website until March 1st. Check out this semester’s offerings here and contact our PR Chair, Tara Holz, at taralyho@umich.edu with any questions.
Join this fabulous ballroom squad by ordering your team apparel!
- SAPAC workshop: We’re holding a workshop on consent and sexual harassment this Thursday 9-11pm in CCRB 3275. This workshop is mandatory if you are new to the team this semester or didn’t attend last semester’s workshop. The workshop is specifically tailored towards scenarios you might encounter in ballroom, so you are still required to attend even if you have completed other SAPAC training in the past. However, if you attended the ballroom SAPAC workshop in the fall you don’t need to come to this one. If you can’t make it on Thursday please contact me at enabney@umich.edu to schedule a makeup, or you won’t be able to attend team social events for the rest of the semester :(
- Ballroom Buddies: Our team is so large and complicated, it can be confusing when you first join. With this in mind, we’ve developed a ballroom buddy scheme: if you are a new member of our team, you can sign up to be paired with a returning team member that has volunteered to help you feel welcome and answer any questions about competitions/looking for a partner/anything and everything ballroom related. Your buddy is not responsible for teaching you dance moves or meeting with you all day every day (unless you both want to), but rather serves as a point person and guide to the team. Sign up for both newcomers and returning team members can be found here (deadline is 11.59pm on Saturday).
