Congrats to all the team members who competed at Illinois this weekend! We received first place in the International team match and second place in the American team match, plus there were many great individual results yesterday, so well done everyone!
Hi team,
Hope you’re all enjoying a well-earned break, and have recovered from Illinois if you competed there yesterday. Here’s this week’s announcements:

Celebrate the arrival of sweater weather with our corn maze social this Friday!
- Corn maze social: our first October social is coming up this Friday (October 18th), when we’ll be going on a trip to a spooOOooky corn maze! Bond with your fellow team mates by getting lost together :) Entry to the corn maze will be $7 (payable to the team in advance, Venmo @UMBDT preferred, cash, check and PayPal also accepted), plus bring some extra cash with you on Friday if you want to buy warm cider, donuts or other goodies at the maze! Fill out the form here and pay your entry fee to the team by 11.59pm on Wednesday so we can organize rides to the corn maze. We’ll be leaving campus at 4.30pm and should be back by around 8.30/9pm. Questions about the corn maze? Contact your wonderful Home Comp Coordinator Corey (cgkflynn)!!!

Join this squad with your very own ballroom track jacket!
- Apparel: This is the last week to order apparel, which is available for purchase on our website until Sunday October 20th. Check out this semester’s offerings here and email our Practice Coordinator Grace Kraimer (gkraimer) with any questions. If you’re interested in being part of a ballroom tie–dye event (date TBA once apparel is distributed), buy one of our white Michigan Ballroom V-Necks or tanks!
- Ballroom buddies! If you signed up for a ballroom buddy, you can find your buddy assignment and their contact details in the spreadsheet attached to the Week at a Glance email! Questions about ballroom buddies? Ask your Recruitment Chair Can (ccarlak)!
- Showcase videos: if you missed either of our recruitment events in the League ballroom last month, you can now catch any showcases you missed on our YouTube channel here!
- Love memes? We’ve got all your ballroom meme needs covered with our dedicated team meme group, check it out here :)
- Final reminder to join our team Facebook group! It’s the hub of our community where we post event reminders and announcements during the week, as well as lost and found items, partner searches and much, much more! Check it out here, and just hit request access. Make sure you’ve added your Michigan email address to your Facebook account or you won’t be able to join the group, there’s instructions about how to do this here (if you’re having trouble joining the group or you aren’t a Michigan student please contact ballroom-exec@umich.edu and we’ll sort it out).

Your ballroom team membership comes with a FREE membership to the ballroom club! Just ask the desk at the club for your membership card. The Ballroom Dance Club meets once a week on Sundays and provides a relaxed, social environment to learn ballroom for the wider Ann Arbor community. It’s a great opportunity to attend an additional lesson (if the two this week weren’t enough) and get some help from upper-level team members at Open Dance.
Club is in the League ballroom this week, and there will only be open dance 8-10pm, no lessons this week. Come and use this great opportunity to practice your standard in the ballroom!
For more information including club’s schedule for the whole semester, check out the club website here.
Looking further ahead…
- Game night: we’re hosting a team game night on Friday October 25th, 9pm in 3333 Mason Hall, so save the date!
- Halloween party: our next team party will be on Saturday October 26th, so start planning your costume! More details on both these events will follow next week…
