Team members at last year’s Arnold competition – sign up ends on Thursday so don’t miss out!
Hi team,
Hope you all had a relaxing weekend! Here’s the announcements for this week:
- Last chance to sign up for Arnold! Don’t miss out on the biggest and most exciting competition of the semester, check your inbox for Natalie’s email with all the details and links to sign up. Remember that only one person in a partnership needs to fill out registration, but both people must fill out rooms and rides or we won’t provide you with transportation to the comp 🙂 Here’s a quick rundown of the important info and links:
- Why you should definitely come to Arnold:
- You’ll have an amazing time dancing and cheering on your teammates!
- Arnold Schwarzenegger will be there! This is your chance to see the one and only Governator :O
- You can cheer on your teammates competing in the collegiate team match (think Thunderdome but with dancing!)
- You’ll get to see some amazing showcase performances by talented young dancers and cabaret performers.
- You get entry to one of the biggest sports festivals in the country, so if you have breaks you can check out people competing in all kinds of alternative sports like pole dancing, fencing, cheerleading…
- You’ll have loads of fun carpooling, rooming and eating mountains of pasta with your teammates!

Terminator-themed cabaret show from Arnold 2018!
- Arnold payment deadline is Thursday February 20th! Don’t be a jerk and make your treasurer Colin hunt you down, there will be a late fee of if you don’t pay on time! Venmo @UMBDT preferred, cash/check/card/PayPal accepted. Reach out to Colin (crolston) if you have questions about payment.
- Partner search: Still looking for a partner for Arnold? We’ve got you covered! We’ll be holding a guided partner search at the end of Tuesday’s newcomer lesson (10.30-11pm in CCRB 3275). You don’t need to be a newcomer to attend! If you’re searching for a partner for Arnold, you can also post your info in the team Facebook group and/or on this spreadsheet to let other team members know you’re looking. Please note that entering your details on the spreadsheet doesn’t mean we will find you a partner, it’s your responsibility to use the sheet to contact potential partners 🙂

We traditionally refuel after a long day of dancing at Arnold with a huge team pasta dinner! PC Lizzy Xiong
- Newcomer lessons this week: In addition to our usual Saturday lesson and Tuesday review lesson, this week we’ll have our first guided practice of the semester on Thursday, 9-11pm CCRB 3275! During this guided practice we’ll cycle through music for all the dances we’ve covered in newcomer lesson so far this semester. While you’re dancing, the upper-level team members assigned to the practice will work round the room and spend time helping everybody on an individual basis. You can come with a partner or show up solo and find one at the practice!
- American lessons: Our final Bronze American lesson of the semester (open to A-PreC teams) is on Monday (2/17) 7-9pm at Steve and Susan’s studio.
- Team Karaoke: Don’t forget our team karaoke social is 8-10pm on Friday February 21st! If you signed up and haven’t paid, make sure you pay $10 to the team (Venmo @UMBDT or pay cash/check to any board member) ASAP to reserve your spot!
