Special shoutout to everyone who showcased, taught, and helped recruit for the team at our first major event in the Union of the semester! It was great to see everyone learning some fun new moves and sharing their love of the team with our newcomers :)
Coming up this week…
- Showcases: If you missed our showcase event this saturday there is still another opportunity to perform coming up Thursday Sep. 30th at the CCRB. Showcases are a great way to introduce our newcomers to how fun ballroom can be and show off your amazing dance moves! If you are interested in doing a showcase on 9/30 please sign up using this form with info about what dances you are doing and don’t forget to fill out the intro form as well so that our wonderful recruitment chair Tiffany can properly introduce you!
- DTS: DTS is open to returning members! See the schedule below for the dates and times which practice space will be available this week. Please remember masks must be worn at all times at DTS and you must pay dues to use the practice space.
- Lesson Etiquette Reminders: We love having our returning members at newcomer lesson, but please remember to be respectful of those who are teaching at our lessons. This means following the lesson plan, even when you know more or different moves than what is being taught, and not teaching newcomers on the side during lesson. If a newcomer asks you a question at lesson please try to redirect it to those who are specifically teaching that lesson! Having folks teaching on the side of the lesson can be distracting to the whole group and can confuse the newcomers if you are giving them different information than what the folks teaching are saying. Plus if we redirect the question to the whole room then others at the lesson who may have a similar question can also benifit from the answer and it can give teachers feedback on what parts of the dance newcomers are struggling with.
- Recruitment: We will have newcomer lessons on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday this week! If you can try to drop by a lesson and help recruit some more newcomers to our team :)
- First Steve and Susan Newcomer Lesson: Steve and Susan will be teaching their first newcomer lesson of the year on Sunday (9/26) at the CCRB! Drop by to catch up with S&S and help the newcomers learn some new moves :)
