Congratulations everyone on making it through a fun-filled semester of ballroom dancing!! Whether this was your first of many, or last semester with our team, I am incredibly proud of everything we have all accomplished so far this year! Going into our last official week of lessons for the semester we have lots of exciting announcements, so read on for all things ballroom happening this week! Announcements for this week:
- End of Semester party (EOS) on Saturday (12/11)! We’ll be celebrating the end of a successful semester with our traditional potluck and talent show beginning at 7:00 pm in 2435 North Quad. Afterwards we’ll transfer locations for the after-party and dance the night away, check the WAG email for details. Dress code is similar to Guys’, Gals’, and Pals’ night, formal wear is encouraged but not required 🙂 Feeling excited yet? Sign up for things here:
- Everyone: sign up for the potluck here. You must bring a dish to pass or you can’t attend EOS!
- If you’re feeling talented: sign up for the talent show here by 11.59pm on Wednesday 12/8 :)
- If you’re graduating this semester: fill out this form by 11.59pm on Wednesday 12/8 so we can give you a senior send-off!!
- End of Semester Showcases: This year we will be hosting a showcase event on 12/12 at our last lesson of the semester!! If you are interested in showcasing please use this link to sign up! Everyone is encouraged to participate!! Deadline to sign-up is Thursday 12/9!!
- OSB videos: Our wonderful Tech Chair Nathan has finished uploading all the OSB videos, which you can find here! Watching your competition videos is a great way to learn how to improve for your next competition, plus you can show your friends and family how great you’ve gotten at dancing this semester 🙂
- Team closet: Please return all team closet items/other items borrowed from your team-mates as soon as possible after to Tiffany. Please wash your items so they are ready for the next borrower!
- Apparel Updates: Don’t forget to pick up your apparel! Our latest order will be coming in and available for pick up starting at lesson on Thursday! Be sure to grab your apparel before the semester is over!!
- Lost and Found: If you have lost items this semester and have not yet picked them up please make arrangements to do so before heading out of town for the semester! Items include: Black jacket, green bag, green shoe brush, blue socks
- Board Contact Form: Please use this form to give feedback to the board about anything you would like to tell us about this semester! The form can be fully anonymous so please give us your honest feedback. We are particularly interested in ways that we can help to continue to make ballroom a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for everyone in coming semesters!! As always, you are also encouraged to reach out to the board anytime, we are always here to help in any way we can :)
Looking Further Ahead…
- Winter Tryouts: Tryouts for the winter semester upper level teams will be on Saturday January 15th!! Be on the lookout for an email with everything you need to know about tryouts and how they work and don’t forget to save the date!
- Mark your calendars for the Arnold! The Arnold Youth Dancesport Classic, the sister competition to OSB, will be March 5-6th, which is the last weekend of spring break. Not only is this competition as big and awesome as OSB, the points we earn from Arnold add on to our next OSB score, thus making it essential for defending our title next year! Be sure to arrange your spring break plans so you can dance for the Terminator himself, who makes an appearance every year in the ballroom!!!
