Newcomers learning the foxtrot in the CCRB at our second to last free lesson!
Hi team,
First and foremost, congratulations to everyone who participated in tryouts! I was blown away by the energy and passion in the mirror room on Saturday, it was so much fun to watch and see how much you have all improved since September. The results should be out some time on Monday, so keep an eye on your email inboxes for emails from me and your wonderful curriculum chair Erika about your new team placements! Upper level lessons will start with B-team on Tuesday.
- Recruitment This Week: We are in our last week of recruitment! Our last free lesson and showcases will be on Thursday (1/20)! Please come to this lessons if you can to help show your love of dance and encourage our newcomers to join our team! If you would like some posters to hang in the dorms, around campus, or give your friends contact your amazing recruitment chair Tiffany (tiffle)!
- Showcase Opportunities: Showcases are one of the best way to recruit new members as well as show off your awesome dance skills! We will be having showcases during the lesson Thursday 1/20! If you are interested in participating in a showcase please use this link to sign up! See Tiffany’s email for more information and for the intro form!
- Dues: If you still need to pay your Winter Semester Dues ($60) please Venmo (@UMBDT), PayPal Friends&Family (ballroom-exec@umich.edu, or give exact cash to a board member by Thursday (1/20)! We will be making a new mailing list after Thursday, so if you want to keep coming to lessons, DTS, and receiving the WAG don’t forget to pay your dues :)
- Team Closet: If you borrowed something for tryouts please wash and return the item to Tiffany ASAP!! If you are borrowing the same items from tryouts for MSU you can keep them until after the comp :) Still need to borrow something for MSU? Check out the team closet document and let Tiffany know what you would like to borrow ASAP!
- Still looking for a partner? Use our partner search spreadsheet to find someone to dance with this semester!
- DTS: No DTS Thursday this week, come to newcomer lesson instead!
- MSU Drivers Needed: If you can drive to MSU and have not yet completed the Rooms and Rides form please reach out to your wonderful away competition chair Lauren ASAP! We would greatly appreciate any additional drivers :)
- Welcome to the Team Night ft. Games and Shenanigans: Join the Michigan Ballroom Board in 3437 Mason Hall at 8:00 pm on Saturday (1/22) for answers to all your ballroom related questions, to meet some awesome new people, and to play some fun games!!!

- Guys, Gals, and Pals Night: Due to COVID rate increases we are postponing our in-person GGP celebration to February. Stay on the lookout for more information in the coming weeks :) Want to help us welcome our newcomers this semester? Join the board at Game Night on Saturday (1/22)!
- Consider Running for Board: Board elections will take place at this semester’s EOS celebration. Start thinking about if you would like to join our amazing team board and feel free to contact any current board member about their role!
- Competitions: Be on the lookout for an email from Lauren with all the competition opportunities coming up this semester!
