Hi Team,
I hope everyone had a great time at our St. Patrick’s Day party on Saturday and at lesson and ballroom club today! This week we have lots of reminders about upcoming events for the rest of the semester, so read on for all the important ballroom news :)
Announcements for Everyone:
- Party Reminders: Please remember that all ballroom parties are ballroom exclusive events and only open to dues paying members! There should be nobody at these parties who is not a part of our team. This is incredibly important as it helps us know that all attendees are affiliated with the team and have participated in their mandatory SAPAC training so that we can all have fun and feel safe at all our events. If you see someone at a party who you haven’t seen before or aren’t sure if they are a part of the team please point that individual out to a board member ASAP!! We take team safety very seriously and will remove anyone who isn’t supposed to be there! Do not invite non-ballroom people to our parties, it is never okay to bring someone into the party who is not a part of the team. Have friends who want to party with the team? Recruit them next semester and then they can party with you too!
- Arnold Videos: Arnold videos are in the process of being uploaded to YouTube! We highly recommend that once the videos are up you take the time to go through and watch your performances to see where you can improve for next time! In the meantime, you can also check out some of the photos from the arnold here 🙂
- Team Closet: Please wash and return all team closet items ASAP so that they can be ready for the next borrower!
- Guided Practice: This Thursday we will be having another guided practice in the CCRB during the normal newcomer lesson time (9:00-11:00 pm)! Guided practice is a time for you to work on all the fun dances you have been learning so far this semester, as well as ask questions and recieve feedback from the upper level team member instructors! It is highly recommended that you attend guided practice if you are able to do so as it is one of the best opportunities to recieve feedback and advice to improve your dancing! This guided practice time overlaps with the DTS time, and all PreC and beginning level members are strongly encouraged to go to guided practice instead of DTS on Thursday!
- Partner Search Spreadsheet: Still looking for someone to practice or attend our last competition of the semester with? Check out the partner search spreadhseet here! Please remember to clear your info from the sheet if you are no longer looking for a partner so that folks know who they should reach out to 🙂
- Teaching Reminders: Please remember that the only people allowed to teach any dance moves or styling are the members of the A and B teams! Only these people are authorized to provide instruction. This is to ensure that any information being given is accurate and to help prevent folks picking up bad habits that will be difficult to break later.
Looking Further Ahead…
April 9th: Mark your calendar for the Irish Dancesport Gala! The annual Irish Dancesport Gala hosted at Notre Dame is coming up on April 9th! This will be our last competition of the season!! Be on the lookout for more information coming from your wonderful Away Comp Chair Lauren later this week🙂
April 16th: End of Semester Celebration and Board Elections! Highlights of EOS include: food, supurlatives, senior send offs, and most importantly…the election of our new board! More information on running for board will be coming out in April, but start thinking now if you would like to join our amazing board to help our team continue to grow and flourish next year! If you have any questions about being on board or a specific position feel free to reach out to any of our current board members!
