Hi Team,
Welcome hoMe! A huge thank you to all of our performers and supporters who came to Artscapade and everyone who helped at the grad student info fair!!! We passed out around 600 fliers which is massive!!! I truly could not do this without you all and I am so thankful y’all are so passionate about dancing and the team. We have some more tabling to do and our lessons are beginning this week so please read the entirety of this WAG.
Special Announcements for Everyone:
- Showcases: Oh yeah it’s that time of year again. Showcases will be happening on Sept 15th, 22nd, and 29th at our newcomer lessons which are from 9-11 pm at the CCRB. Everyone is welcome to do a showcase and show our newcomers what dancing is all about! Please fill out this form if you are interested in doing a showcase so we can gauge how many we will have.
- Tabling: We need you (and your friends) for Michigan Ballroom! We have Festifall coming up and need your help to recruit new people to join our team. We will be at Festifall Central from 6-8:30 pm so (east coast) swing on by to help us out. Please fill out this google sheet to sign up to table.
- Free Newcomer Lessons: We will be having our free lessons for the first month of the semester starting Sept. 1st at the CCRB from 9-11 pm! They will be in the CCRB every Thursday 9-11 pm, and Sunday 3-5 pm following the 1st with Sept 29th being our last free lessons. Bring your friends and their friends!
- Boba Social: after the first Sunday lesson on 9/4 at 5 pm we will be walking to Sharetea on State street for some good conversation and some great bubble tea.
- Partner Search: We will be having a partner search (one of two this semester) on September 6th from 9-11 pm in the CCRB. This is perfect if you want to try out or go to any of the upcoming competitions in October. If you can’t make it to the event the official fall 22 partner search sheet can be found here! Please let us know if you need help.
- Guided Practice: Trying out or just need some extra help? We are reserving our Tuesday CCRB space for guided practices beginning on Sept 13th from 9-11 pm. These will end beginning in October so please take advantage of them while you can. If you are not on A team it is highly recommended you attend these instead of DTS on Tuesdays while they are occurring.
- Michcomp Committee: Interested in getting more involved with the team? Fill out this form to join our Michcomp committee! It is due by Sept 29th. If you have any questions please reach out to Ray or Luna.
- OSU Competition: Keep an eye out for an email from Amy this week for registration for OSU’s competition in Columbus on October 8th. If you are interested in competing but have questions feel free to reach out to Amy or ballroom-exec@umich.edu.
- DTS Schedule: DTS will be open M, T, TH 9:30-11:30 pm, and W from 10-12 pm starting on Monday please note the change in times.
- DTS Etiquette: There will be chores so please if you use the space, do a chore. Otherwise, the board has to stay late and clean up after everyone. Also, DO NOT ARRIVE EARLY! This is the one time I will tell you this. Do not arrive at DTS early as there are classes happening before us and it is super awkward if you bust in early.
- Tryouts!!!: Tryouts will be held on September 17th from 1-4 pm in the CCRB. More details to come in September. If you want to try out but have questions, please reach out to a board member.
