Hi Team,
So happy to see everyone today! We changed dances to American Rumba, American Tango, and Mambo! Thursday will be a hustle and bachata lesson to get you ready to dance at our parties. Speaking of we are getting ready for our biggest party of the year, Leads & Follows, this weekend and all of the fun that comes with that. Hopefully, you got a chance to ask all of your pressing questions today at our Boba social after the lesson, and if not just email us! Our last free lesson will be on Thursday :( but then you get to officially be on the team :)
Special Announcements for Everyone:
- Michcomp Committee: Interested in getting more involved with the team? Fill out this form to join our Michcomp committee! It is due by Sept 29th. If you have any questions please reach out to Ray or Luna.
- Last Free lesson: Sad boi hours our last free lesson is this Thursday from 9-11 and it will be featuring some phenomenal showcases plus it will be hustle (swing) and bachata. Bring your friends!! But the good news is it will get you party ready for Leads and Follows night!
- Leads and Follows: Our fanciest and sauciest party of the year. This is an intro to the team and we go over norms and team culture, how to get a partner, etc. It is a semi-formal party but come in something you feel comfy in. It will be Saturday the 1st with the leads at one house and the follows at another for the beginning of the party. Go wherever you feel comfiest. It is a ballroom exclusive party so don’t bring your friends unless they are on the team. Luna will be sending out the deets to those who paid dues on Friday but expect to be ready to walk by 7:30 pm to the house of your choosing.
- DTS Night: On October 4th at 9:30 pm at DTS we will be having an Intro to DTS night. This is for those of you who are new and want to utilize our practice space. We will be covering both how to use the space and an Intro to Competitions! This will be vital for those of you who want to compete or want to know more about competing. We will be starting at 9:35 so please be on time but not early!
- Dues: Dues are $65 for current students. They are due on Sept 29th (but we’d love it if you paid earlier so we can figure out how much pizza we need for Leads and Follows). This gets you two lessons a week plus practice space 4 times a week. If you are interested in paying dues they may be paid through venmo to @UMBDT, PayPal at ballroom-exec@umich.edu (MUST BE FRIENDS AND FAMILY), or exact cash to Jason. Please always include your uniqname and first and last name. If you are not a current student and are a recent alum (in the last year) and want to use our space, please reach out to me or Jason.
- CCRB etiquette: Please do not wear non-dancing heels to the CCRB, we don’t want to damage their floors and plus sneakers are fine until you get some fancy dancing shoes.
