Hi Team,
Congrats to everyone who competed at the OSU comp! You all did great and I am so proud of you for going out there and giving it your all. Thank you to everyone who showed up at the S&S lesson. We learned much more American rumba, American tango, and mambo!
Special Announcements for Everyone:
- Differences and closures: Please note that DTS will be opening at 10:30 pm on this Wednesday instead of 10 and there will be no Newcomer lesson on Thursday for Shoe vending or on Sunday because of Fall break.
- Teachers: No one but the A team should be teaching you new moves, technique, or offering styling advice. If you have a more advanced partner than yourself who wants you to learn new moves politely say “Let’s ask ___ A Team member to teach it to me” so that you get the correct information. It is incredibly easy to pick up bad habits or incorrect technique so please refrain from this and come ask an A team member.
- OSU Receipts: If you went to OSU please send Jason your receipts for parking and gas so we can distribute the cost between everyone. No receipts, no reimbursement, no exceptions.
- Ballroom Buddies: Want to be matched with an upper-level team member? Fill out this form to find a ballroom buddy. Ray will be match-making everyone so you find the perfect person to answer all of your team or dance-related questions. Your buddy will help you navigate the team, comps, and everything in between. *However, unless they are on A team they should not teach you any dance moves or technique.
- Group Me: Sometimes we have announcements that do not warrant an email to everyone like “Hey DTS is closed tonight” or “The competition is starting 30 minutes earlier than we thought” so we use Group Me to keep in touch. Please join this one for announcements and this one for silly memes. Please try to keep them separate as we don’t want to spam the announcements with memes.
- Purdue Comp: Fill out Purdue R&R, register AND pay by Wednesday (We made an exception for OSU since the due dates were confusing, however going forward, there will be a $10 late fee for every day R&R is late!) So if you are going please register quickly!
- OSB interest form: Our biggest and coolest competition of the year will be on November 19th and 20th (right before Thanksgiving). If you want to compete we highly suggest that you go to this one! Here is the link. PLEASE FILL OUT THE OSB INTEREST FORM IF YOU ARE EVEN THE TINIEST BIT INTERESTED. It is not a commitment but rather a tool for us to use to see how many rooms and rides we will need.
- Shoe Vending: Looking for proper dancing shoes so you don’t have to keep wearing your sneakers? Sign up to go buy a pair from VE Dance on Thursday. This form is due by Tuesday 11:59 pm. If you fill it out we will be sending you an email Wednesday with the info for Thursday (who, what, when, and where).
