Hi Team,
Week four, aka one month in! Congrats to everyone who tried out yesterday! Trying out can be scary and anxiety-provoking but you all did a wonderful job. If you joined us for our first party of the year last night, I hope you had a great time! Our next party will be in October and is extra special (more details to come) if you missed the first one. We also had our first Steve and Susan lesson today so if you missed that is tragic because they are amazing teachers.
Special Announcements for Everyone:
- Showcases: Oh yeah it’s that time of year again. Showcases will be happening on Sept. 22nd, and 29th at our newcomer lessons which are from 9-11 pm at the CCRB. All returners are welcome to do a showcase and show our newcomers what dancing is all about! Please fill out this form by Tuesday night if you are interested in doing a showcase so we can gauge how many we will have.
- Michcomp Committee: Interested in getting more involved with the team? Fill out this form to join our Michcomp committee! It is due by Sept 29th. If you have any questions please reach out to Ray or Luna.
- OSU Competition: Amy recently sent out Rooms, Rides, and Registration for the OSU comp on Saturday, October 8th. If you would like to go to this competition but didn’t get the email or have questions please reach out to ballroom-exec@umich.edu. Also, you must pay dues before the competition. Please note the change in date for Rooms and Rides. It is now due by Sept 23rd. If you did not register but still want to go you can register late you will just have to pay $55 instead of $45 but you only have until Sept 23rd to do so.
- Dues: Dues are $65 for current students. They are due on Sept 29th. This gets you two lessons a week plus practice space 4 times a week. If you are interested in paying dues they may be paid through venmo to @UMBDT, PayPal at ballroom-exec@umich.edu (MUST BE FRIENDS AND FAMILY), or exact cash to Jason. Please always include your uniqname and first and last name. If you are not a current student and are a recent alum (in the last year) and want to use our space, please reach out to me or Jason.

What is stopping you from paying dues and filling out rooms and rides for OSU right now? If it’s hesitation due to questions please reach out so you can get the answers you need. We can only live our lives in the now. So you might as well be the go-getter who joins a super cool new club that has values like dancing is fun, support your teammates positively, and asking for consent before dancing is necessary. I hope to see you all on Thursday and on Sunday!
