Hi Team,
So happy to see everyone today! Welcome officially to the team! I hope you all had a lovely Leads & Follows night and are excited to begin the semester as official members of the MBDT! Steve and Susan taught today and boy was it a fun one! If you missed this lesson and want to know what you missed come to the lesson on next Sunday or stop by DTS this week and ask any member of the A team. Don’t know who to ask? Feel free to ask any board member and they will point you in the right direction!
Special Announcements for Everyone:
- DTS Night: On October 4th at 9:30 pm at DTS we will be having an Intro to DTS night. This is for those of you who are new and want to utilize our practice space. We will cover how to use the space and an Intro to Competitions! This will be vital for those of you who want to compete or want to know more about competing. We will be starting at 9:35 so please be on time but not early! If you miss, please come to DTS on another night and ask any board member you see to give you an intro to chores and how to use the space.
- Rounds: As you will see on Thursday we have Rounds instead of Newcomer Lesson. What are Rounds? Rounds are our Mini-Comp Prep for those competing where we run through all 16 of the dances and practice like we are in a comp. Traditionally you bring your own partner to rounds and the two of you pretend like it’s a competition and you dance the dances you know and watch the ones you don’t. If you want to see what they are like or want to participate please come. Those people competing on Saturday would love to practice in front of an audience. Since we are running rounds there will not be a lesson where we teach you. Instead, we will be dancing together like we compete. Have a question? Feel free to email me or the ballroom-exec@umich.edu email.
- Group Me: Sometimes we have announcements that do not warrant an email to everyone like “Hey DTS is closed tonight” or “The competition is starting 30 minutes earlier than we thought” so we use Group Me to keep in touch. Please join this one for announcements and this one for silly memes. Please try to keep them separate as we don’t want to spam the announcements with memes.
- OSU Comp: OSU Rooms and Rides was sent out yesterday. You have the next 24 hours to contact Amy if you have any issues with the arrangements. If you are not going to the OSU comp do not fret, just ignore this announcement.
- Purdue Comp: Purdue Rooms & Rides will be sent soon for those of you who want to compete on October 22nd at Purdue. Please keep an eye out so we can gauge how many cars we need to take for all of our team members competing. More info about competing will be distributed on Tuesday for those of you going to DTS night. If you absolutely cannot make this but are wanting to compete or are even a little bit interested please reach out to ballroom-exec@umich.edu and we will work to get you the info you need.
- OSB interest form: Our biggest and coolest competition of the year will be on November 19th and 20th (right before Thanksgiving). If you want to compete we highly suggest that you go to this one! Amy will be sending out an interest form in the email with the Purdue Comp info email. PLEASE FILL OUT THE OSB INTEREST FORM IF YOU ARE EVEN THE LITTLEST BIT INTERESTED. It is not a commitment but rather a tool for us to use to see how many rooms and rides we will need.
- CCRB etiquette: Please do not wear non-dancing heels to the CCRB, we don’t want to damage their floors and plus sneakers are fine until you get some fancy dancing shoes.
