11/6/22 Week at a Glance

Hi Team,

Happy two weeks before the end of OSB! That’s right we will be driving home this time in two weeks. I hope you are ready to JIVE into the final finessing of your dancing. This Sunday, Steve and Susan walked us back to some of our first dances learned this semester and talked a lot about what the judges look for when they judge. Lots of new and exciting things going on this week and we can’t wait to dance with you at DTS or at guided practice.

Special Announcements for Everyone:

  • Guided Practice: this is a chance for you to get individualized help from the A team. Unlike a normal lesson we will not be teaching in our traditional format, so be prepared to practice alone (some of my best dance learning happens on my own) or with just your partner. This is perfect for those of you looking for last-minute help before OSB, or anyone who has additional questions about what you have learned thus far in the semester (reverse turns in the samba perhaps?) If you are not on an upper-level team (A or C) it is expected that if you practice on Thursday with the team, you go to guided practice instead of DTS. We will be playing the music for all of the dances you have learned thus far so you can remember what exactly the tango looks like.
  • Asking for help at DTS: Please be aware that the A team, in these next few weeks, is also trying to practice their dancing so please be respectful of their time. You can always save your questions for guided practice.
  • OSB REGISTRATION: Remember to complete your registration on O2CM and payment to the team by Friday, November 11!! If you need help registering, please reach out to me or a board member so that we can help you!
  • OSB Buca Dinner: Our team has a tradition of going to Buca di Beppo for dinner on Saturday night after the first day of dancing! You do not have to go, there are plenty of other options around the area but if you are interested, please sign up for a time with your friends on THIS SHEET!
  • Poster Making Social: Monday the 14th 7-9 pm Poster making and hang out, at the MLB, room TBA
    • a.k.a. One of the best ways to cheer on your fellow dancers (without losing your voice!) is poster-making. On Monday the 14th, in the MLB, we will be making the competition posters to prep for OSB. We’d love to see you there, making signs for your fellow newcomers, your ballroom best friend, or the best board member (choose wisely)! Supplies will be provided, creativity is required!
