Hi Team,
T minus 5 days! Yay! I am so excited for you all to experience OSB if this is your first or millionth time. It is a ton of fun and I cannot wait for you all to enjoy yourselves. Today at the newcomer lesson we went over some of those dances that we haven’t seen for a while. If you missed out, I am sorry you didn’t get to hear me yelling about how sexy Jason is or how much you love the waltz. To sum it up: smile!!!! don’t look down, try not to let your anxiety get the best of you, and have fun! The board will be cheering everyone on and so should you (respectfully).
Special Announcements for Everyone:
- SAPAC Makeup: To anyone who missed the SAPAC workshop, you will need to fill out this form as a makeup. Note that we will be checking who fills out the form. You will need to complete this before OSB if you plan on competing. Failure to do so will make you ineligible to compete. You will also be ineligible to participate in any of our social events in the future. Please don’t make us not let you compete because you forgot, Ray will ugly cry, and nobody wants to see that. Please take this seriously. We will be reading all answers, and if we decide that your answers are insufficient, we may ask you to attend a makeup workshop with Ray later this week to make sure you know all the content. If you attended the workshop you do not need to fill out the form.
- Apparel: If you ordered apparel, it will be ready by rounds this Thursday! We want to make sure you all have your team swag at OSB, so either come to the CCRB this Thursday or contact Ray to pick up your merch at a different time!
- Rounds: Instead of guided practice or newcomer lesson, this Thursday from 9-11 pm in the CCRB we will be hosting Rounds for everyone going to OSB (and our friends who still want to dance but aren’t going to OSB). Come dressed in your competition gear and ready to go at 9 pm. I am starting the first heat at 9:05 pm. Just like the comp, if you aren’t early you are late and will miss your dancing. Be there at 8:50 to give yourself some time to change and warm up. There will be no DTS, go to rounds instead.
- Asking for help at DTS: Please be aware that the A team is also trying to practice their dancing this week, so please be respectful of their time. You can always save your questions for rounds.
- OSB R&R: Rooms & Rides is out! You have the next 48 hours to contact Amy if you see any issues or would like to request any changes. Any requests after this time period will not be honored. Excited to see you all at OSB!!
- OSB Buca Dinner: Our team has a tradition of going to Buca di Beppo for dinner on Saturday night after the first day of dancing! You do not have to go, there are plenty of other options around the area but if you are interested, please sign up for a time with your friends on THIS SHEET!
- Holiday Showcases: It’s the winter celebration stretch, and about time to start rockin’ around the CCRB! Our Holiday Showcases will be happening on December 8th from 9-11 pm at the CCRB! Everyone is welcome to do a showcase, no matter your dance level! We would love to see everything you’ve learned so far! There will be a sign-up so we know what song and dance you would like to do but for now, just start thinking about it!
- Poster Making Social: Monday the 14th 7-9 pm Poster making and hang out, at the MLB, room 2212
- a.k.a. One of the best ways to cheer on your fellow dancers (without losing your voice!) is poster-making. On Monday the 14th, in the MLB, we will be making the competition posters to prep for OSB. We’d love to see you there, making signs for fellow newcomers, your ballroom best friend, or the best board member (choose wisely)! Supplies will be provided, creativity is required!

I cannot express how excited I am to see you all have a great time and spend quality time with your teammates. OSB and the Arnold are the coolest competitions I have ever been to and I hope you all leave feeling the same way. If you need anything between now and Friday, you all have my email and the board’s email or you can come and talk to us at DTS. We believe in all of you and know you can do great and have a wonderful time simultaneously!
