2/5/23 Week at a Glance

Hi Team,

T-minus five days until we leave for MSU! Keep an eye on your emails for the Rooms and Rides for this week. Amy and Jacob taught us some fun and saucy rumba, tango, and mambo. There will be no guided practice this week due to rounds so if you missed out you will have to come to the next lesson or catch up at DTS. However, please be mindful of the upper-level team members’ time this week as they have to practice for the competitions too.

Special Announcements for Everyone:

  • Rounds: There will be no guided practice, DTS, or lesson on Thursday instead there will be rounds from 9-11 pm in the IMSB. Rounds are our way of practicing like it’s a competition. Everyone will come in their ballroom gear dressed and ready to dance (if you aren’t competing and want to dance just come in something comfy). We then play music for 1 min 30 seconds in heats and dance full out like it’s a competition. If you are interested and just want to watch please come! It will be a blast.
  • MSU R&R: Be on the lookout for MSU R&R from Amy sometime this week! Once the email is sent, you will have 48 hours to request any changes.
  • Michcomp Committee: Are you excited for Michcomp? This year, we are holding our own competition on April 15th. If you want to help us make sure everything runs smoothly, consider applying to be part of the Michcomp Committee! This is a low-commitment job that would only require a couple of hours a week. It would greatly help ease the load that’s put on our poor overworked board members, and it is a great way to contribute back to the team! Also, the people on the committee will receive compensation in the form of Ray’s eternal love and devotion. Apply here!
  • Comp interest form: Please fill out the competition interest form if you haven’t already done so! This form is non-binding and is only to gauge interest. We are once again scrambling for rooms for the Arnold so it is imperative that you fill out the form even if you have the slightest chance of going.
  • Ballroom Buddy Valentines: Fill out the form by this Thursday to get your very own special valentines addition, Ballroom Buddy!!! You can fill it out even if you have a buddy from last semester! It’s fun, I promise you’ll be entertained. You’ll be matched with a fellow teammate in addition to & an upper-level team member. It’s a cheeky chance to get your very own valentine and a buddy who will help you navigate the team, comps, and everything in between. It’s going to be hella cute so be sure to sign up! <3 <3 Please fill out this form if you are interested!
  • Shoe Vending Day: If you are interested in making a group trip to VE dance to purchase dance shoes, please fill out this interest form! Keep in mind, if you are interested in competing, you are required to wear dance shoes!
