Happy Labor Day! Thank you to everyone who came out to a lesson on Thursday or Sunday last week. We had a great time with the cha-cha, American foxtrot, and East Coast swing. I hope to see all of you at DTS or the lessons this week!
Announcements for Everyone:
- OSU R&R: Keep an eye out on your inboxes for the OSU rooms and rides today from Jacob. OSU’s competition will be on Sept 30th in Columbus, Ohio. If you have any questions please contact Jacob at jharrels@umich.edu.
- Ballroom Club: The Ballroom Club, our sister organization, has requested our help with their lessons in recruiting new club and team members. Their lessons are held after ours on Sundays from 5-8 p.m. There will be snacks!! Please fill out this doodle poll if you are able to make it on Sept. 10th or 17th.
- Dues: Interested in joining the team officially? Ready for open practice space, fun lessons, and social events (past the 14th)? Dues are $65 this semester and will be due on September 14th at 11:59 p.m. and can be paid via Venmo or exact cash. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out.
- Tryouts: Tryouts will be happening Saturday, September 17th from 1-3 pm followed by a newcomer lesson from 3-5 pm. Please see my previous email about details for tryouts. If you did not get that email and are interested in trying out, please reach out as soon as possible.
- Partner Search: We have unfortunately canceled the partner search due to a lack of people looking for a partner. However, if you want to get something worked out, please contact Alan, our recruitment chair, at alanzhng@umich.edu.
- Alumni: If you are an alum who wants to use the DTS space please contact us at ballroom-exec@umich.edu to discuss using the practice space before you use it. We are implementing a new policy effective this week.
- Comp Interest form: Thinking about competing this semester? Fill out this form so we can get an idea about how many folks will be going to each comp this year. This helps us prepare adequately and allocate resources for each comp! This form is non-binding so you can always change your mind later.
- Showcases: If you are interested in showcasing at the Newcomer Lessons and showing off your awesome dancing skills please sign up here.
- DTS Hours: DTS will be open normal hours this week except for Thursday (M & T 9:30-11:30 pm, and W 10 pm-12 am). Thursday DTS will be closed. Please go to the newcomer lesson instead!
- Extra merch sale: We have a limited amount of extra merch from prior semesters that we are offering for sale! If you’d like another chance to drip yourself out in UMBDT gear for the start of the semester, please check out this spreadsheet to see what we have available. Email our treasurer, Owen Hoffend (ohoffend@umich.edu), if you’d like to buy something or if you have any questions.
