Hi Team,
Happy Sunday! Steve and Susan taught today and it was an excellent American rumba, American tango, and mambo lesson. If you were struggling to nail down the moves, do not worry! On Thursday there will be a lesson going over what they taught from 9-11 p.m. in the IMSB. We are so happy you all have decided to join us this semester!
Announcements for Everyone:
- Intro to DTS: we will be doing our intro to DTS night tomorrow, Monday the 18th at 9:30 pm. Intro to DTS is an overview of our practice space for newcomers who plan on using it throughout the semester. We will cover hours, policies, and maintenance. This will happen at Dance Theatre Studio (713 N University Ave). Please be on time, but not early! If you’re unable to attend but want all of the info, contact Nicolette (nmkleinh@umich.edu).
- Intro to Competition: After intro to DTS, anyone interested in competing can stay at DTS for Intro to Competition. This is an overview of competition for newcomers so you know what to expect! If you’re unable to attend but still want the info, reach out to Nicolette (nmkleinh@umich.edu).
- OSU Rooms and Rides: Rooms and Rides for the OSU Dancesport Classic is due September 20th! The early registration deadline has passed so the price has increased $10. Please pay the team the TOTAL ESTIMATED COST for the competition instead of just the registration fee. As of now that price is $120. This covers registration, housing, and travel costs. Once we are back from the competition, a finalized number will be calculated by Owen and you will be refunded or charged depending on how accurate the estimate was.
- Illini Rooms and Rides: keep an eye out for an email from Jacob sometime soon with details about competing at the Illini competition if you are interested in going!
- DTS Hours: DTS will be open normal hours this week (M, T, TH 9:30-11:30 pm, W 10:00 pm-12:00 am).
- Practice Space Schedule: Nicolete has been putting together a schedule for IMSB room availability for those who want additional space to practice. The spreadsheet can be found here and it will include availability for IMSB Multipurpose Rooms A and B as well as the Ballroom Club schedule. The schedule can only be done two weeks in advance due to IM policies, so check back regularly.
- Extra merch sale: We have a limited amount of extra merch from prior semesters that we are offering for sale! If you’d like another chance to drip yourself out in UMBDT gear for the start of the semester, please check out this spreadsheet to see what we have available. Email our treasurer, Owen Hoffend (ohoffend@umich.edu), if you’d like to buy something or if you have any questions.
