2/5/24 Week at a Glance

Hi Team,

Welcome back to the 4th edition of your 2024 WAG. Early Monday morning wags are just better than Sunday evening ones wouldn’t you agree? Also, happy birthday to Allen Gu and Max’s aunt!

Announcements for Everyone:

  • Partner Search: If you are looking for a partner, we will have an IN PERSON EVENT, this Thursday, Feb 8th, from 8-9 pm in 3356 Mason Hall. We encourage you to come, talk to potential partners, and then go to rounds right after and give it a shot! In addition, we have a spreadsheet open! Please put your information down if you are interested in finding a partner, but it is UP TO YOU to contact someone else on the spreadsheet if you think you could be a good match!
  • SAPAC: Our SAPAC training is this Wednesday, 7th of Feb, at 7pm on Zoom. The training is mandatory for all members (new and returning) and we will record attendance. It should take around 1.5h. If you can’t make it to the training email akilian@umich.edu or ballroomexec@umich.edu
  • Liability Waiver: We are now requiring all team members to sign this liability waiver. Members must sign this to attend any competitions or parties. If you have any questions or concerns, email ballroomexec@umich.edu.
  • Arnold Dancesport Classic: Get hyped for the Arnold Dancesport Classic March 2nd-3rd! Check your emails for an email from Rachel with information, due dates, forms, and registration.
  • Verified Teachers: Here is the new list of approved teachers for this semester! These are the upper level team members who can answer dance/technical questions at DTS, lesson, or guided practice. Please remember to be respectful of their time when asking for help.
  • MichComp Committee: We host an amazing competition during the Winter semester, but in order to organize it, we need the help of you all! If you’re interested in joining the committee, please sign up here
  • MichComp Free Housing Host: Other teams host us for competitions and now this is your opportunity to give back for our home competition! Housing people from other teams is a great way to meet new people and help out the ballroom community. If you have any amount of floor space (even just enough for one person) in your house/apartment/dorm please fill out this form.
  • Practice Space Schedule: The spreadsheet for space availability can be found here. It includes availability for IMSB Multipurpose Rooms A and B as well as the Ballroom Club schedule. The schedule can only be done two weeks in advance due to IM policies, so check back regularly. If the schedule is out of date, you may need to call and confirm specifics but the general availability is the same.
  • Sticker Design Competition: The team is looking for new sticker designs for our merch store, so we’re hosting a fun little competition to select new sticker designs. If you have a design, please submit it using this form. Submissions are due 2/7 at 11:59 pm. Voting will happen from the 8th to the 10th and the winning design will be added to the store for purchase. The designer of the winning sticker will get a free copy of their sticker and some extra super cool merch ;)
  • Showcase Opportunities: Are you interested in showing off your dancing and helping us recruit? The team has been offered performance spots for a number of on-campus events including Dance-A-Thon, UMix, and SpringFest. Please contact the board (ballroom-exec@umich.edu) if you are interested in performing for us!
