Hi Team!
Happy Sunday! Shout-out to everyone who went to OSU this weekend! You all did so amazing and I’m glad everyone made it home safe. Steve and Susan taught another lesson on American Rumba, American Tango, and Mambo today. If you have questions about anything that was taught, make sure to come to DTS and ask one of our upper-level team members!
Announcements for Everyone:
- Shoe Vending: We will be visiting our ballroom shoe supplier, VE Dance, from 7-10 PM this Wednesday. This is your best chance to get shoes! Fill out this form by TONIGHT 11:59 PM if you would like to attend. You will receive your car assignment by Monday.
- Partner Search: If you are looking for a new partner for tryouts or to dance with in general, sign up and look here! We will also be having a partner search event in Mason Hall 3437 on 9/30 from 8-9:30 pm before DTS. If you have any questions or concerns, reach out to Johny at jonwdan@umich.edu.
- Corn Maze Social: We will be having a corn maze social at Blast Corn Maze on October 4th! There are other cider mill like activities there as well. I hope you all can come! Sign up to go here by TONIGHT, tickets are $12. Reach out to Johny with any questions at jonwdan@umich.edu.
- Ballroom Buddies: Sign up here to get a ballroom buddy! Ballroom buddies are a great way to make connections on the team and to have someone on an upper team to go to! This is a great initial connection and what happens from here is up to you!
- Themed DTS: Themed DTS every Wednesday. This Wednesday’s theme is pajama day (since we are sleepy from competing at OSU). Wear your pajama pants!
- Carnegie Mellon Housing: Fill out this form by Wednesday, 10/2 to receive housing with us at CMU. This is required to receive housing with us, in addition to the Rooms and Rides form. Remember that Carnegie’s open session goes late on Saturday so if you’re planning to attend that you may want to request housing for an extra night!
- Competition Registration: CMU Regular pricing ends Friday, 10/4 and Rooms and Rides is due Friday, 10/4. IU Regular Pricing ends Saturday, 10/12 and Rooms and Rides is due Friday, 10/11 at midnight. See Nate’s emails for more information!
- Other Practice Spaces: Check here to find a time where the IMSB is not reserved for another group. The ballroom dance club lessons/open dance is generally on Sundays 6-9pm in the Rogel Ballroom in the Union (free for UMBDT dues paying members). Check their schedule here.
- Social Events Ideas: We’re planning our social events for this coming semester, and we want your input. If you have any suggestions, please let us know here!
- Liability Waiver: Please fill out these yearly mandatory liability forms before coming to lessons and DTS! The IMSB liability form is here and the team waiver is here. Everyone needs to fill these out once per year and it does not take long so do them now before you forget!
