Hi Team!
Happy post-OSB and Thanksgiving break week! We did it!! To everyone who came with us, competed, and cheered on your teammates, thank you! You all made this last weekend so amazing and so special. I’m beyond proud of everyone, and you should all be so proud of yourselves. I’m so grateful for this community and this team.
Announcements for Everyone:
- OSB Photo Album: Please pretty please add all of your OSB pictures to this album!!
- SAPAC Makeup: If you couldn’t make it to our SAPAC workshop last week, please check your emails for a message later today about how to complete the makeup!
- Dancing with the Newcomers: The partners for Dancing with the Newcomers for showcases on 12/8 are here. Talk with your partner to decide what smooth/standard and/or rhythm/latin dance you want to showcase. Maximum length for a showcase is 1.5 minutes, your selected dances are due 12/1, and songs are due 12/5. Send them to Johny b email. The audience will be voting for their favorite couples! Feel free to invite your friends to watch!
- Pie Baking Social: There will be a pie baking social on 12/1 at 2 PM. Sign up here to come. Spots will fill up quickly, so sign up ASAP.
- DTS over break: DTS Monday and Tuesday but no DTS Wednesday or Thursday. Enjoy your break :)
- Michcomp Committee Form: Every year we host our own competition Michcomp! Anyone who would like to work with your fellow teammates and make our competition smooth and fun for everyone fill out the form here.
- Photos albums: Please put your ballroom Halloween pictures in this album! Haunted house, corn maze, and Halloween party pictures are all welcome. Please also put your CMU and OSU pictures in these two!
- Partner Search: If you are looking for a partner, sign up and look here! Reach out to Johny at jonwdan@umich.edu with any questions.
- Other Practice Spaces: IMSB room schedule here. The Ballroom Dance Club lesson/open dance schedule here.
- Liability Waiver: Please fill out these yearly mandatory liability forms before coming to lessons and DTS! The IMSB liability form is here and the team waiver is here. Everyone needs to fill these out once per year and it does not take long so do them now before you forget!

Meet the A Team
Alan and Emma
Alan is a senior in Computer Science and this is his 5th semester on the team. He is a big samba enthusiast and he has a 2 year streak on Kindle. Emma is a junior in Public Health and this is her 5th semester on the team. Her favorite dance is International Rumba and she is blonde!
Rachel and Joshua
Joshua is a senior in Computer Science and this is his 5th semester on the team. His favorite dance is International Cha Cha and currently, he is addicted to Pokemon ROM hacks. Rachel is a junior in Actuarial Mathematics and Economics, and this is her 5th semester on the team. Her favorite dances are the Swing, Rumba, and Samba! Sometimes, Rachel likes to go.
Gerardo and Andrea
Gerardo is a senior in Mechanical Engineering and this is his 5th semester on the team. His favorite dance is International Rumba and to study, he listens to soft sambas. Andrea is a senior studying Economics and EEB (Ecology and Evolutionary Biodiversity), and this is her 4th semester on the team. Her favorite dance is International Cha Cha and she is selectively vegetarian.
Jacob and Eda
Jacob is a grad student in Robotics and this is his 7th semester on the team. His favorite dance is whichever dance he’s doing at the moment and due to sheer talent, he is banned from Panda Express. Eda is a PhD in Architecture and this is her 10th semester on the team. Her favorite dance is the International Rumba and her free time she does macramé wall art!
