Hey everyone!
Welcome to week three of the semester! With Leads and Follows less than two weeks away and competitions not far behind, I hope your class schedules are settling down and you find time for a good nap. We’ve got the whole semester ahead of us, so lots to look at. Here’s your WAG:
- Dues – If you haven’t already, you can pay your dues via venmo @UMBDT. Dues are $65 for the semester, and make sure to include your full name and uniqname and “Dues” in the subject line. If you have any other questions or wish to pay by cash or check, contact our treasurer, Owen, at ohoffend@umich.edu. They’ll be officially due at the end of the free newcomer lessons…
- Free Newcomer Lessons and Tryouts – Our free lessons will again be held in the IMSB Multipurpose Room A on Sundays from 3-5pm and Thursdays from 9-11pm. The last free lesson will be September 18th, followed by Tryouts on September 21st (no lesson that Sunday, but newcomers are welcome to spectate!). I’ll be sending out Tryouts information this week, so keep your eyes peeled.
- New Practice Space – We will be moving to the Sports Coliseum for practices. Practice will be held 9-11pm Monday through Thursday (Thursday practices are cancelled through 9/18 because of free lessons).
- Showcases – We would like existing members to show our new members how awesome the team is! Fill out this form by Monday, 9/15 to sign up.
- Leads and Follows Choreographers – Calling all seniors/soon-to-be graduates! If this is your last semester or year on the team, we would love to have you choreograph and/or be showcased in the Leads and Follows dance battle. Please fill out this form to ensure that your team wins the battle!
- Competition Interest Form – Please fill out the MBDT Fall 25 Competition Interest Form so we can get a rough estimate of competition attendance.
- IU Cream and Crimson Classic – Our first competition of the semester will be the Cream and Crimson Classic on September 27, 2025! Check out Emma’s email (emmazink@umich.edu) if you are interested in attending.
- Carnegie Classic- The second competition of the year will be the Carnegie Classic on October 11th. Here is their website for more info and check out Emma’s emails if you are interested in attending.
- Partner Search – If you are looking for a partner for tryouts, look no further! Fill out your information in the partner search form right here and reach out to someone on the spreadsheet. You can also ask a board member for help if you’d like.
