Hey everyone!
Welcome back! It was great to see everyone at lesson today, where we practiced and added on to the Viennese Waltz, International Rumba, and Jive. This week we’ll continue to Meet the Teams with the C team (see the bottom of this post):
- Themed Sports Coliseum – We have moved to the Sports Coliseum for practices. Practice will be held 9-11pm Monday through Thursday. The theme for Wednesday Sports Coliseum this week is HALLOWEEN COSTUMES!
- Hallowe’en Party – We will be hosting a Hallowe’en party on Nov. 1, starting at 9:30pm. More details to follow, in a party email from Taryn
- MichComp Committee – We will be having our first MichComp Committee meeting on November 2nd at noon in Mason Hall Rm 1339, to begin organizing our home competition, which we’ll hold next semester. You should totally help. Sign up for the interest list here, it’s no commitment but you will be in the loop.
- Ballroom Buddies – If you are nervous about coming up to approved teachers or upper-level team members at practice, worry not! You can sign up for ballroom buddies so you always have a go-to person to reach out to with questions, comments, or concerns. Your buddies can give you advice and help with anything from A to Z. This is particularly useful when it comes to practicing and comp prep. Fill out the form by midnight tomorrow (Monday 10/27)
- SAPAC Training – Because ballroom is a contact sport, we have mandatory SAPAC training that must be completed each year. This year, SAPAC will be held on November 12th, 6:30-8:00pm in Mason Hall. Please please PLEASE put this on your calendar now and make it happen! Scheduling makeup SAPAC is not fun and you will not enjoy it.
- Competitions
- OSB Interest Form– Please fill out this form to indicate your interest in attending the Ohio Star Ball this November.
- Registration information for the Ohio Star Ball and Purdue are both out! Check Emma’s emails and ask board members if you have any questions
- Other Practice Spaces – You can go to the IM Multipurpose Rooms outside our booked time, check the facility schedule here. The third floor of the Union also has a big, usually empty hallway to be in.
- Partner Search – Check out the partner search spreadsheet if you are still looking for a partner, and if you are not available, please cross your name off.
- F25 Approved Teachers: We recommend asking for help regarding dance moves and technique from the couples approved by Steve and Susan to teach the newcomer lessons. See the list here.
- Liability Waiver – Fill out this Liability Waiver before attending newcomer lessons at the IMSB or practices at the Sports Coliseum.
- Google Calendar – Check the team calendar here.
- Google Photos – To preserve and share our team’s memories, place any photos you take in our google photo albums!
- Costume Sales – Looking for new gear for tryouts, practice, or competitions? Try the Dance America Deal of the Week or Discount Dance (currently having a huge liquidation sale).
