Hey everyone!
It was great to see everyone at lesson today, where Ashley and Anushka added on to the American Tango, Swing, and International Rumba. Purdue is this week and the Ohio Star Ball is right after, so get hype! This week we’ll continue to Meet the Teams with the A team:
- Purdue and Ohio Star Ball Rounds – Review lessons will be replaced by Rounds for the Purdue and the Ohio Star Ball on 11/13 and 11/20, respectively. Everyone should come dance, even if you’re not competing!
- Themed Sports Coliseum – We have moved to the Sports Coliseum for practices. Practice will be held 9-11pm Monday through Thursday. The theme for Wednesday Sports Coliseum this week is Leads and Follows Swap Day! Leads wear follows’ clothing and follows wear leads’ clothes (if you don’t have clothes ask your dance partner or friends!)
- SAPAC Training – Because ballroom is a contact sport, we have mandatory SAPAC training that must be completed each year. This year, SAPAC will be held on November 12th, 6:00-8:00pm in Mason Hall. If you are not available to stay for the entire duration of the training and have not filled out the form already, email Taryn at tarynry@umich.edu with the the subject “SAPAC availability”. Please list if you are completely unavailable or if you are able to attend session 1(6:00-7:00pm) or session 2(7:00-8:00pm).
- Ohio Star Ball- The best, most fun competition ever is in two weeks on November 22-23. Please ask a board member or refer to this guide for more information. Registration, rooms and rides, and payment are all due TONIGHT (Nov 9th)!!!!!
- MichComp Committee – You should help us host our home comp next semester. Slides from meeting #1 found here.
- Other Practice Spaces – You can go to the IM Multipurpose Rooms outside our booked time, check the facility schedule here. The third floor of the Union also has a big, usually empty hallway to be in.
- Partner Search – Check out the partner search spreadsheet if you are still looking for a partner, and if you are not available, please cross your name off.
- F25 Approved Teachers: We recommend asking for help regarding dance moves and technique from the couples approved by Steve and Susan to teach the newcomer lessons. See the list here.
- Liability Waiver – Fill out this Liability Waiver before attending newcomer lessons at the IMSB or practices at the Sports Coliseum.
- Google Calendar – Check the team calendar here.
- Google Photos – To preserve and share our team’s memories, place any photos you take in our google photo albums!
- Costume Sales – Looking for new gear for tryouts, practice, or competitions? Try the Dance America Deal of the Week or Discount Dance.
- Team Closet – The team closet is viewable to all in this doc
