Hey everyone!
It was a wonderful weekend at the Ohio Star Ball, and I’m so proud of all of you for how well you danced. All that’s left for us on the team this semester is a few Newcomer Lessons and Social Events and our End of Semester Party.
- Newcomer Lessons – There will be no newcomer lesson this Thursday or Sunday due to Thanksgiving. The two remaining lessons this semester will be on 12/4 and 12/7, the latter of which will be split with Dancing with The Newcomers. Next semester’s Newcomer Lessons will follow the same schedule of Thursdays 9-11pm and Sundays 3-5pm at the IM starting on Thursday, January 8th. The first few lessons will be free, so invite your friends!
- Tryouts – We will be holding tryouts next semester on Sunday January 18th from 3-5pm. This is during the normal Newcomer Lesson time and will replace that Free Lesson. Stay tuned for the signup forms over Winter Break! Until then, if you have any questions, contact me or put questions in the Members Chat.
- End of Semester (EOS) Gathering – We’ll be holding our End of Semester Potluck on December 6th from 7:30-10pm. Stay tuned for location and the potluck signup!
- MichComp – We’ll be holding our own competition next semester on March 21st at Skyline High School, so save the date!
- Holiday Gift Exchange – On Wednesday December 3, 2025 at the sports coliseum we will be having a holiday gift exchange! The form was due last night, so contact Taryn if you have any questions.
- MichComp Committee – You should help us host our home comp next semester. Slides from meeting #1 found here, fill out THIS FORM to tell us what committee you want to be on, and fill out this When2Meet to tell us when you’re available. We’ll be having another meeting on December 5th, 7-9pm in Mason Hall 2437.
- Social Event! – We will be going ice skating at Yost on Sunday, December 7th from 1:30-2:50! It’s $5 to skate for students, $10 to skate for adults, and $5 to rent skates.
- And Another Fun Thing – Dancing With The Newcomers, Season 2, shall premier on the same day, December 7th during newcomer lesson. A, B, and C members: reach out to some newcomers to see if you’d like to pair up to showcase a fun dance at the end of the semester! Please fill out this form to opt in and request partners.
- Other Practice Spaces – You can go to the IM Multipurpose Rooms outside our booked time, check the facility schedule here. The third floor of the Union also has a big, usually empty hallway to be in.
- Partner Search – Check out the partner search spreadsheet if you are still looking for a partner, and if you are not available, please cross your name off.
- F25 Approved Teachers: We recommend asking for help regarding dance moves and technique from the couples approved by Steve and Susan to teach the newcomer lessons. See the list here.
- Liability Waiver – Fill out this Liability Waiver before attending newcomer lessons at the IMSB or practices at the Sports Coliseum.
- Google Calendar – Check the team calendar here.
- Google Photos – To preserve and share our team’s memories, place any photos you take in our google photo albums!
- Costume Sales – Looking for new gear for tryouts, practice, or competitions? Try the Dance America Deal of the Week or Discount Dance.
- Team Closet – The team closet is viewable to all in this doc. Make sure to return everything you borrowed for OSB!
