Hey y’all, hope you survived the first week of school. We’re locking in and have lots of updates for you. You can also view the WAG on the website here.
- Free Newcomer Lessons – We’ll be having our free newcomer lessons on Thursdays 9-11pm and Sundays 3-5pm in IMSB Multipurpose A. Be there or be square! Invite your friends – they run September 3rd through September 24th.
- Dues – Dues are $65 this semester, that covers two newcomer lessons, access to practice space, and invitations to our parties! Speaking of, the first party will be on September 26th, which is our dues deadline. You can pay via Venmo @UMBDT, with your full name and uniqname in the subject line, or you can pay via cash to a board member at newcomer lesson.
- Tryouts – Tryouts will be held on 9/20 from 3-5pm in IMSB Multipurpose A, and we have the room from 1-3pm for open practice beforehand. This means that there will be no lesson on Sunday 9/20. Returning members will receive information about trying out, and new members are welcome to come observe!
- Fall Practice Spaces – We’ve got a new schedule for practice space this year, see below.
- Monday: Sports Coliseum, 9-11pm
- Tuesday: IMSB MPR A 9-11pm
- Wednesday: DTS, 10-12pm
- Themed DTS: it’s back! Wear Maize and Blue this Wednesday!

- Showcase Sign-up – We’ll be showing off our finest dancers (everyone receiving this email) on and around the last day of free lessons (9/24). Fill out THIS FORM to sign up!
- Leads & Follows Choreo – If you’re a senior or otherwise graduating this year, sign up to choreograph the dance battle HERE! Due 9/13.
- Shoe Vending – We will be visited at DTS on 9/21-22 by LD Dance Shoes. Please sign up here if you’re interested, whether or not you need a ride.
- We are still working on arranging a vending day with our traditional supplier, VE Dance, which could come much later in the semester or not at all depending on scheduling. LD Dance Shoes has quality shoes, but does not have the other dance clothing that VE has.
- Flash Mob – We are doing a flash mob on Thursday (September 10) this week. Come to the Sports Coliseum tomorrow (Monday, September 7) to learn the choreo. Join the GroupMe here for updates.
- Competitions – Our first two competitions are coming up! See Emily’s emails with general information and the Rooms & Rides forms for both the Carnegie Classic and OSU Dancesport Classic. Also, fill out THIS FORM if you haven’t already to tell us what competitions you may be interested in! It is non-binding but it helps us budget so things can be cheaper for YOU!
- Rec Sports Liability Waiver – Don’t forget to fill out your annual Liability Waiver for IMSB, Hadley, Sports Coliseum
- Ballroom Apparel Reviews – Do you have recommendations for ballroom apparel? Words of caution? Help your fellow dancers out and add them to this spreadsheet!

- Save the Date – Ohio Star Ball: Nov 21-22, 2026 and The Arnold Dancesport Classic: March 6, 2027!
