Happy Spring Break! I’ll see you all at the Arnold on Friday – Emma will be sending out room and ride info soon. Here’s some reminders for when we get back. We’ll also meet the B Team this week. Check it out on the website here
- The Arnold: Emma will be sending out the R&R soon!
- We are not holding any lessons or practices over spring break, so make sure to get your practice in!
- DanceMix: What’s a DanceMix? It’s only a performance of the best dance orgs (including your favorite, the MBDT) on campus. When, you may ask? March 11th at 7 pm in the Power Center. Tickets will be $10 and they sell out fast. Please follow this link for tickets. We’re the second group to perform so don’t be late! You can catch the A team showing off the best choreo created by Steve and Susan on stage.
- MichComp Shoutouts – We will be having shoutouts in our program at MichComp! This is a great way to support your friends on the team! It consists of a message and an optional phoTo. Please also send this to your parents if they’d be interested. The cost is $20 per shoutout. If you’re interested, fill out this form by March 9th!
- Practice Space – No practice!
- W26 Approved Teachers: We recommend asking for help regarding dance moves and technique from the couples approved by Steve and Susan to teach the newcomer lessons. See the list here.
- MichComp – We’ll be holding our own competition next semester on March 21st at Skyline High School. Save the date!
- We’ll be advertising for Michcomp in the coming weeks. the lasT round of reachouts is due by Arnold!
- MichComp Committee – Our nexT meeting will be THIS Wednesday, March 4th 1-2PM on Zoom.

Jo and Marie
Jo is a grad student pursuing a Masters in Robotics, and this is his 4th semester on the team. His favorite dances are the International Rumba and the Bolero. His fun fact is that he’s worked on humanoid robots that can dance. Marie is a senior studying art and design, and this is her 8th semester on the team. Her favorite dance is the American Waltz. Fun fact: She had never been on a plane until last year!
Marlin and Zeynep
Marlin is a grad student pursuing a Masters in Applied Electromagnetics and RF Circuits, and this is his 4th semester on the team. His favorite dance is the Jive. Fun fact: He loves dogs! Zeynep is a grad student pursuing a PhD in Chemical Engineering. This is her 6th semester on the team. Her favorite dances are the Quickstep and International Rumba. Her fun fact is that she can have full-on conversations in her sleep and not remember any of it when she wakes up.
Owen and Kamile
Owen is a grad student studying Computer Engineering, and this is his millionth semester on the team. His favorite dance is the International Tango. Fun fact: He once served lettuce to kids on Halloween out of an Airbnb in New Zealand because he didn’t realize they celebrate it over there. Kamile is a junior studying History and Politics of the Americas, and this is her 2nd semester on the team. Her favorite dances are the Latin dances. Fun fact: She knows the whole movie script for the movie Tangled by heart.
Freddy and Julia
Freddy is a senior studying Statistics, and this is his 8th semester on the team. His favorite dance is the Samba. Fun fact: He runs a film club, but he’s never seen Jaws, Star Wars, or the Wizard of Oz before. Julia is a sophomore majoring in Material Science Engineering and minoring in Spanish and Dance. This is her 3rd semester on the team, and her favorite dances are the Waltz and the Samba. Her fun fact is that she’s been to 22 national parks, and she hopes to visit all of them someday!
Alex and Nelly
Alex is a senior majoring in Honors Neuroscience and Philosophy, and this is his 4th semester on the team. His favorite dance is the Smooth Waltz! His fun fact is that he can stand on his tiptoes for an indefinite amount of time. Nelly is a sophomore studying Sociology: Law, Justice, and Social Change, and she is in her 4th semester on the team. Her favorite dances are the Smooth dances! Fun fact: She made her smooth dress from scratch.
Qingyue and Avy
Qingyue is a grad student studying Computer Science Engineering, and this is his 4th semester on the team. His favorite dance is the Rumba. Fun fact: He’s tried his partner’s dress… And it fits him perfectly. Avy is a sophomore majoring in Economics and minoring in Business. This is her 4th semester on the team, and her favorite dances are all the Latin dances except Jive. Her fun fact is that she once bought a bag of mint-colored soaps from a middle school bake sale and thought they were mint chocolates. She then ate one in front of her class and began spitting bubbles.
As a reward for reading this far into the WAG, I will tell you to take a nap over break!
